Biologist
As aBiologist within the Conte Anadromous Fish Research Laboratory, Turners Falls, MA, some of your specific duties will include:
Analyze biochemical or ionic composition of samples using advanced quantitative chemical analysis that includes quantitative measurement of enzyme activity, measurement of metabolites such as glucose and lactate, and measurement of osmolality, ions and metals in biological and water samples. Documentation of biochemical and physiological processes of anadromous fish and associated aquatic ecosystems and biota through the measurement of enzyme activity, metabolites, ions, metals, respiration, and mass balance of oxygen. Assist in compilation and analysis of data resulting from field and laboratory studies on anadromous fish. Manage data using advanced equipment control software, excel, statistical and graphics software. Assist in reporting of research findings in written and oral formats including the preparation of scientific reports and presentations. Basic Education Requirement:

Applicants must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Biologist, all grade levels A:
Have successfully completed 4-years of college study leading to a bachelor s degree in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B:
Have successfully completed 24 semester hours in an accredited college or university in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines and have additional work experience and/or education comparable to the completion of a 4-year course of study in one of the disciplines identified above. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
